GALLERY: Ridge Students Read Dr. Seuss Books to Deepwood Work Groups
The activity is the latest example of Ridge and Deepwood working together
The Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood celebrated the beginning of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with the latest example of its partnership with Ridge Middle School.
Two advisors and 21 students made the trip to Deepwood's Vocational Guidance Center to read Dr. Seuss books to the habilitation and work training groups there. This marks the sixth year that Ridge students read to people at the VGC, Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood spokeswoman Lynnmarie Landwei-Phillips said.
In the past year, Ridge students built and launched paper rockets with the Noble Readers Book Club. Students made an ocean mural at the VGC in August, and have built gingerbread houses and taken part in the United Way Day of Caring clean up of the flower beds at VGC and Adult Residence Center.
