It's Young Versus McGuinness For The 61st District

Voters have their choices this November for the 61st district seat in Ohio's House of Representatives

Barring either candidate dropping out of the race, voters have their choices for the 61st district seat in Ohio's House of Representatives.

It will be Republican Ron Young and Democrat Susan McGuinness facing off on the November ballot.

Young is the representative for the 63rd district. However, due to the redistricting, he now lives and is running for re-election in the 61st.

McGuinness is a registered nurse and the Lake Health Board of Directors chairwoman. Both candidates ran unopposed in the primaries.

The current representative for the 61st district, Democrat Mark Okey, is not running for re-election.

The city of Mentor is bifurcated between two house districts -- the 60th and the 61st.

The 61st includes the first, second and third wards of Mentor, Concord Township, Madison, Perry and portions of Painesville Township, as well as parts of Geauga and Portage County.

If you're not sure which ward you live in, check out the Lake County Board Of Elections' polling place finder.
