Mentor City Council approved the sale of one of its land-bank losts during its meeting Tuesday night at City Hall.
The lot is in the Heisley Road Commerce Park off Hamilton Drive.
Heron & Sons Decorative Concrete and O'Connor Plumbing have offered to purchase the lot for $35,000.
Both businesses rent property in the city but they would rather co-own the Hamilton Drive property.
"They see this as an opportunity to make an investment and solidify their roots in the community," said Ron Traub, the director of economic development for the city of Mentor, before the Council meeting.
This is the first land-bank lot in Heisley Road Commerce Park the city has sold in more than 10 years.
Mentor used to have 23 lots in the area and only five remain. These last five lots have been more difficult to sell because there are wetlands on the property, Traub said.
Also at the City Council meeting:
- Council voted to give a $2,500 economic development grant to brokerage firm Benjamin F. Edwards & Co.
- Council approved a $235,000 contract for Dura Mark Inc. to restripe the city's streets.
